In this section of the Grassland Memorials website, we are addressing
frequently asked questions involving memorials, services, and products.
If you have a question that is not covered on this page please send us
an email and we would be happy to be of assistance to you.
1. How long should I wait before purchasing a memorial?
There is no set time that you should wait. Some people are able to make
a decision within a few days and others will take months. When you feel
comfortable to talk about your ideas and are able to make a confident
decision, you are ready.
2. How long does it take to complete a monument?
There are a few factors involved in what effects the completion date
such as weather and time of year.
With having a large inventory and a full time shop it would normally
take 6-8 weeks from the date of the order.
If you were to choose a monument in stock and would like it to placed in
the cemetery for a special occasion like a family reunion, we have been
able to have them installed within 1 week.
3. How do I know I'm making the right choice in purchasing our
families memorial?
Your monument purchase is a major purchase and should be a family
decision. At Grassland Memorials we want you to feel well informed of
all your options. We spend an unlimited amount of time with each family
dedicated to designing a memorial to fit your budget, your needs and any
future needs. Always ask for either a scaled computer drawing, or a
full-size drawing that you can approve. You should have more
several to choose from.
4. What type of guarantee comes with a memorial?
Grassland Memorials provides each client with a Perpetual Bonded
Guarantee which is one of the best guarantees in the monument industry.
We also provide references at your request and you can view our
customers' comments album located in the store or on this website under
the menu heading "Customers". You should always ask what type of
guarantee is offered before you purchase a monument from any retailer.
5. How much do memorials cost?
The main components that go into the cost of a monument is the type of
granite used, size, finish, design or carving and the cemetery fees if
any that are specific to your cemetery. The simplest memorials may start
around $500 while a family monument can range from $1500 to $5000 and
up.
6. With all the brochures and letters I received how can I be
sure to do business with the right company?
At Grassland Memorials we feel you will know when the time is right, the
company that you are dealing with must be knowledgeable, professional,
and willing to take the time to listen to your needs and concerns.
Anyone who attempts to pressure you into a quick decision based only on
price, arrives at your doorstep, or calls a few days after your family's
funeral and urges you to make a hasty decision, does not have your best
interest in mind.
7. Why does the cemetery require a foundation under the monument?
The foundation of the monument is usually placed just ahead of the
actual grave so your monument isn't sitting on the disturbed ground. The
foundation is what keeps your monument nice and straight and if
positioned at ground level, allows the caretakers to mow the grass close
to your monument without having to do any trimming.
8. My cemetery will only allow me to place a flat bronze or flat
granite marker. Why is this?
Some cemeteries will only allow flat markers. Most of these cemeteries
are Memorial Garden type cemeteries. At the time the thought was that
this appearance would give you a park-like setting and would be easier
to maintain. Most of these cemeteries are now planning upright memorial
sections because people find flat graves difficult to locate especially
in the winter time and people tend to prefer an upright or pillow style
monument as it gives them more capability to customize their own family
memorial.
We hope this information is helpful for you. Please keep in mind the
rules and regulations differ from cemetery to cemetery. We would be
pleased to contact your cemetery to varify your regulations for plot
layout and size restrictions. Before you make your final decision please
allow us the opportunity to review any quotation you receive. We can
help determine if you are eceiving the highest value for the dollars you
are spending.
